What is a CACHE qualification?

CACHE stands for the Council for Awards in Children's Care and Education; it is an official UK awarding body that specialises in qualifications in Early Years, Care and Education, and Play work these qualifications are widely recognised all over the world.

As an awarding body CACHE sets out the required standards that a particular qualification is to represent and correct course content for students to be able to able to achieve the particular CACHE qualification.

CACHE childcare courses & qualifications range from entry level to advanced qualifications for childcare professionals, CACHE courses are widely available in schools, colleges and training centres throughout the UK.

A CACHE qualification will enable you to demonstrate to potential employers or parents (if you set up a child day care centre for example) that you are serious about your chosen vocation and have took the time to learn the most up to date practices in taking care of children.

Whether you’re taking the entry level or any of the higher levels the qualifications are a great advantage to have, and the fact that you can study these courses part time or full time or even online you can easily work out a study plan to fit around to your current commitments.

A key point in understanding what levels of qualification you need for different roles is important, for example to be a nursery assistant in a pre-school nursery you may not need any formal qualifications because you would be under the supervision of someone with a CACHE level 3 NVQ Diploma, however the “recommended” qualification for this role as a nursery assistant is a CACHE NVQ Level 2 in Children's Care.
